Accessible bathrooms in Saint John

A bathroom that works for whoever uses it: a shower you walk into, grab bars where hands go, and a door a walker fits through.

What we change

  • A tub turned into a low-curb or curbless shower, waterproofed before any tile
  • Grab bars by the toilet, the shower and the tub
  • Doorways widened where the wall allows

Accessibility questions

Does a curbless shower count for the seniors’ tax credit?
Wheel-in showers are on the Province’s list of work that counts. The list on gnb.ca is the final word for your job.
Can the tub stay?
Yes. Grab bars and a wider door do not need the tub to go. We look at the room on the site visit.
